The ‘hardest, highest’ glass ceiling stands. The US Presidential elections is perhaps not the place for women, like America has time and again proven it. It takes an old white man to throw all women’s rights movements out of the window; so, eight years since Hillary, women of the world’s oldest democracy are still waiting. They are waiting for the glass ceiling to be smashed but patriarchy has won this round. Not Harris. Not Swift. Not Oprah and not Lopez. Not the Childless Cat Ladies. Not the ‘Girl Bosses’.
When it comes to trust, America trusts its grey-haired men far more than it does any other demographic.
So, as the Democrats and Team Harris go back to the drawing board to analyse swing states, the White House is decking up to deal with another four years of Donald Trump’s mood swings. All endorsements have fallen flat. Trump, with the might and money of billionaire Elon Musk by his side, took on the women and won once again. You don’t need to be Nostradamus to know Trump and feminism don’t really go well together. He likes to grab feminism by the, well, you know, and America answers his calls. They did it in 2016; they have done so in 2024.
Trust in women is the one hill that Capitol Hill cannot conquer. Women’s rights don’t make US election issues. Women do. As long as they are out of the President’s Chair.
Who are these women who went out on a limb against Trump, for Kamala?
Here’s a look.
Pop sensation Taylor Swift, whose Eras Tour significantly boosted the US economy, endorsed Kamala Harris in an Instagram post to her 283 million followers in September, just weeks before Election Day.
“I’m voting for Kamala Harris because she fights for the rights and causes I believe need a warrior to champion them. I think she is a steady-handed, gifted leader and I believe we can accomplish so much more in this country if we are led by calm and not chaos. I was so heartened and impressed by her selection of running mate Tim Walz, who has been standing up for LGBTQ+ rights, IVF, and a woman’s right to her own body for decades,” Swift wrote.
Oh, and she signed off her note as the ‘Childless Cat Lady’.
Now that Donald Trump has won the 2024 US election, Cardi B had just four words for American voters: “I hate y’all bad.”
The rapper was very vocal about her support for Harris, so much so that she attended one of her campaign rallies in Milwaukee and even engaged in a war of words with X CEO Elon Musk later.

In her support for Democrat Harris, Cardi B said, “I did not have faith on any candidates until she (Harris) joined the race and said the things that I wanted to hear, that I want to see next in this country. I believe every word that comes out of her mouth. She’s passionate, she’s compassionate, she shows empathy, and most of all, she’s not delusional. Kamala recognises that this country is at risk. That the economy needs to get stronger, that the cost of food and the cost of living is too high.”
Kamala Harris also had ‘Queen B’ Beyonce supporting her. The global pop sensation joined the Democrat at her Houston rally in October, where she said, “I’m not here as a celebrity, I’m not here as a politician. I’m here as a mother. A mother who cares deeply about the world my children and all of our children live in, a world where we have the freedom to control our bodies, a world where we’re not divided.”
In another show of support, Beyoncé shared glimpses of herself on election day, clad in a T-shirt bearing Kamala Harris’s photograph.
At Harris’s rally in Nevada, Las Vegas, Jennifer Lopez said the Trump vs. Harris election demanded a choice: “a choice between backwards and forwards, a choice between the past and the future, a choice between divided and united.”

Oprah Winfrey’s message to the public was clear as she endorsed Harris at her final campaign rally in Pennsylvania on November 4 that a Trump presidency could mean the end of voting rights in the US.

Despite Donald Trump suggesting that Julia Roberts might one day regret her endorsement of Kamala Harris, here is an advertisement featuring Roberts showing her support for Harris anyway.
Actress Kerry Washington actively supported Kamala Harris throughout her campaign. At one event, she said, “You here in Wisconsin have the capacity to save the soul of this country. To really stand between us and a man who has said he wants to be a dictator on day one.”

Oscar-winning actress Anne Hathaway announced loudly that she would vote for Kamala Harris. While performing at the Broadway for Harris fundraiser event on Monday, October 14, in New York City, the actress said, “In case you didn’t know, I am voting for Kamala.”
“America is a very big place and not everybody is decided, especially in an election like this when passions are rightly so intense because the stakes couldn’t be higher. It’s still very important to remember that you have to meet people where they’re at,” she continued.
Lady Gaga also showed up for Kamala Harris at the final campaign rally. Apart from performing, Gaga said, “Today, I am holding in my heart all the tough, tenacious women who made me who I am. I cast my vote for someone who will be a president for all Americans.

In her last-minute endorsement for US President, Katy Perry said that she is voting for Kamala Harris because of her daughter.
“Four years ago, I became a mother. Best decision I ever made. Orlando and I welcomed our daughter Daisy, and she is the reason I am voting for Kamala Harris,” Perry said at a campaign rally.

She continued, “She will protect our rights as women to make decisions over our body. I know she’ll protect my daughter’s future and our families’ futures. Let’s make Kamala Harris the next president of the United States.”
Perhaps, next time.
